Can ChatGPT take away human jobs?

Yes some jobs will be taken over by ChatGPT or by the technology that powers it. A study carried out by University of Pennsylvania, Open Research and OpenAI itself identified a few jobs that are at high risk of being overtaken by the technology that powers ChatGPT. Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT, is a little worried about the problems that his company’s invention may bring about for the job market. Professions that are at higher risk of becoming automated include writers, mathematicians, blockchain engineers, digital interface designers, administrative assistants, proofreaders, etc.

The research found that the most affected jobs will be high-paying blue-collar jobs or jobs that require formal educational credentials. However, the jobs that require apprentices – farmers, auto mechanics, carpenters, cooks, plumbers, painters, cafeteria attendants, etc will be at lower risk.
